Escape from prison: Penguin Edition

Produced and directed by Muneera, Shilpi, Juao, Victor.

For our first assignment we are tasked to produce a short film structured into three components:

  1. Introduce the character
  2. Problem
  3. Solution/end

We were put into groups of 4, using objects we brought into the studio from home. We made adjustments to our objects so that it can appear more life-like such as using glasses and adding googly eyes to them. Between us, we had a penguin, peach, hairband and wookiee.

Each of the groups were then given a storyline to make our movie, ours was:

Characters trapped in a room eventually escapes.

Before we started shooting our movie, we had to figure out what room they will be trapped in so I suggested that we could do a charity box where the characters will be thrown in. There will be conflict and then someone will escape the box.

Time line of plot:

1Characters thrown in box and shakenaaaaaa

aaaaaa
2Box floor covered in feathers and small lighting to make video clearer.“why are you guys in here for?”
“Let’s put the feather’s back on the chicken!”
“I was replaced by an aubergine!”
“Just because I have a big butt doesn’t mean I farted!”
“I was simply too gorgeous for them”
“This chicken is naked!”
“I am not a chicken!”
“Stop calling me a Chicken!”
3Penguin flies out of the top of the box. Feathers stuck on penguin.“I’M FREE!!!”

After our short movie was created, using our phones, we presented it to the class. We made a mistake where we added in an extra scene into the movie and the noise effect of the fart sound wasn’t clear in the audio, so there was an extra pause unnecessarily extended. To improve, we would look over the video once more before presenting and fix any issues that come up however the idea was clearly presented and there wasn’t confusion as to what was happening. I really enjoyed this exercise because we turned inanimate objects into characters and really brought each character to life.
