Meena was created by a team in Unicef which included the indian cartoonist Ram Mohan. The series teaches children on different topics such as health, abuse and freedom from exploitation. One of the characters in this series ‘Raju’, a parrot, was previously a monkey but to cater to their audience they decided that it would create offense as the monkey is sacred to their religion. I think that is something to understand as the final design of the character will most likely not be the same as the first draft as you would be looking to improve after feedback from your peers etc.
