My experience with working with the 2nd year on her animated movie was good. The 2nd year reached out to me through email soon after we were partnered up and arranged a zoom meeting with me. During the meeting she presented her work, what its about and we also went through the animatic on what she wants her movie to look like. She asked what did I want to do and I told her that I can do the backgrounds for her and she agreed. The 2nd year provided me with some visual ideas and a colour pallete to help me with the design. She also told me if I was stuck I can always reach out to her which she did, right after I sent her the design sketches. I didn’t understand from the animatic that the character does not leave her room at any time however that eases up my job a little bit more as it narrows down what area of the home I need to design but in the future I will need to ask more in depth questions about the setting even if it seems simple as I can miss details about the room the character is in. She liked my designs and liked the borders I gave to the room she told me to add more children toys but that she was happy with the design ideas. I still need to complete the work and finish the backgrounds however I really did enjoy working with the 2nd year as it gives me more experience in working with another persons style and match my own to complement it. One good tip I received from this experience is to use 3d games like the sims to help me with the perspective of the room by using furniture in the game I thought that was a really good idea and it helped me with coming up with the designs. Also when I was doing this work, I had a lecturer previously on background design where she explained to keep the background less pronounced by using lighter lines as it can drown out the character. So I made sure that the room was not too busy and had lighter colours.
